FAB-U-LAND Promotional Campaign
Created for Hamline University's Department of Performance, Production & Community
FAB-U-LAND was an original devised show by Jay Eisenberg in collaboration with the actors. This production was a dream to design for, as I had always desired to design a unique visual identity for a new show. The story took place in the basement of an architect with a knack for building things on a slant... His grandchildren were clearing out his basement during his wake and find a mini-model of a very gay theme park - 'FAB-U-LAND."
Eisenberg desired the promotional design to allude to a theme park that provoked feelings of joy, whimsy, warmth and silliness. We wanted to have easter eggs sprinkled throughout the poster and ensure there was some nod to the queer community. Eisenberg encouraged me to pull inspiration from the Disney Imagineers, Mary Blair and 70's aesthetics. He desired flat, soft imagery blended with bold type, dusty rainbow colors, and harsh geometrical shapes and lines.
